The Hitler Scoop
Revel Barker's first venture into 'Alternative History' is a novel
tackling the myths, mystery and confusion concerning reports of the death of Hitler and a newspaper reporter's quest to uncover the truth.
The Northern Echo described it as `the most thought-provoking book of the year` and the Daily Mail said it was `full of Arthur Daley-type characters', and the best-selling first edition was revised with a postscript as even more evidence of the real truth behind the story emerged.
This, final, edition is therefore a historically revised version of the best-selling original.
[After some booksellers reported that potential readers did not grasp the meaning of the word 'Scoop' the book was given a sub-title: Hunt for Fuhrer's body. E-book publishers rejected the cover's swastika as well as the word 'scoop' and insisted on changing the title to Hitler: the Last conspiracy.]
The story is about a young reporter who infrequently suffers from a rare and near-suicidal type of migraine. On an assignment in Ireland he meets a doctor who insists he can stop the severe pain and offers to help. But the doctor and his wife are hiding a secret that, once uncovered, becomes a potential world scoop, probably the scoop of the century, and all the reporter needs to do is to prove it and write it.
He also needs to race - not only against the clock but also against the intelligence forces of the western world.
Endeavour Press described it as a blockbuster thriller that is meticulously researched and brilliantly told. It is perfect for fans of Frederick Forsyth, Robert Harris and Robert Ludlum.
